About the Warwick Art Gallery Inc

Warwick Art Gallery Incorporated was established in 1989 and the new building was opened in February, 1990.

Warwick Art Gallery was officially opened on the 18th of February 1990. In 2012 the Gallery was extended to provide a workshop and storage space. In 2017 the Gallery expanded again into the former Visitor Information Centre next door to create the Orange Wall Gallery exhibition space and Gallery shop.

The Gallery's facilities support an exhibitions program that includes a mix of touring exhibitions and locally generated exhibitions. The Gallery is a Category A facility and a member of Queensland's regional gallery network and Museums Australia. We proudly present over 20 different exhibitions a year and entry is FREE.

In 2004 the Gallery was part of a committee that initiated a community project to breathe new life into the central business district following a distruptive period of streetscaping. The initiative was named Jumpers and Jazz in July. Now a significant community festival, Jumpers and Jazz in July is a major annual project for Warwick Art Gallery incorporating multiple textile (yarn bombing) art projects, exhibitions and workshops.

Through effective strategic planning the Warwick Art Gallery aims to create an environment in which artistic and cultural development will benefit the community. 

The Gallery is coordinated by a Management Committee composed of two councillors appointed by the Southern Downs Regional Council and 13 committee members elected from our membership. The Management Committee receive an annual operational grant from Southern Downs Regional Council. The Committee also employ a Gallery Director, Community Engagement officer and Exhibitions officer.
