The Warwick Art Gallery is a community facility, managed by Warwick Art Gallery Inc. and funded by Southern Downs Regional Council. The Gallery’s aim is to identify, promote and celebrate the community’s artistic and cultural identity and support community-based festivals and events. It also provides a high standard venue to display international quality touring exhibitions. The Gallery is an accredited local government-funded public gallery and is a member of Public Galleries Queensland and the Australian Museums and Galleries Association.

Artists and groups are invited to submit an application to exhibit at any time. The Management Committee of Warwick Art Gallery Inc. assesses applications at regular meetings and designs an annual program that is balanced, diverse and inclusive.

We are now accepting applications for 2025.

Warwick Art Gallery exhibitions are installed and maintained by the Gallery Director and Gallery support staff, with the assistance of trained volunteers.

Gallery responsibilities and artist responsibilities are established in an exhibition agreement and are individual to each exhibition. The Gallery Director will invite you for a meeting several months before your exhibition to go through the agreement with you.

We encourage exhibiting artists to consider offering workshops and/or an artist floor talk as part of their exhibition to add to the visitor experience.

We promote exhibition and events via our website, social media, local newspapers, posters in Rose City Shoppingworld, direct mail to Gallery members and email newsletters.

Warwick Art Gallery is committed to supporting artists in their professional activities. Artists will receive a payment for their exhibition.

Complete the application form below or download a printable version and return to the Gallery. Please ensure you attach a CV (2 pages maximum) and up to 12 images of your work (for group applications, a good representation of several members' work is suitable). If the proposal is for an installation or piece not yet constructed, please include examples of prior work, with a detailed diagram or description of your proposed idea.

The purpose of an artist statement is to provide an explanation of what interests you and influences your work; what you do and how you do it, and what you would like to acheive.

An artist's statement (or group statement) is intended to explain, justify and contextualise your body of work. The information you provide will be used by the Gallery for publicity - website, media release, printed programs, etc.

What to include:

  • For individuals: tell us why you create your art and what it means to you.
  • For groups: tell us about your group - why it formed, how long it has existed, and the group's purpose and achievements.
  • Consider what art form or forms are represented. What themes are explored? What will compel the Gallery visitor to want to view your work?
  • Is there anything unusual in how you will mount the exhibition? (The committee needs to know roughly what materials you will be using and what the exhibition will look like. The committee will also need to know about any possible installation difficulties).
  • Can you offer educational elements to compliment the exhibit, and/or are you available for workshops, classes or lectures?
